BEFORE YOU WAX
G.E.M. | Grow, Exfoliate, Moisturize
GROW-let your hair grow out for at least 3-4 weeks! This this will aid in giving you the smoothest results possible. If you have been a shaver, your hair may be extra stubborn, therefore we need the length for the wax to adhere properly to prevent breakage and get the hair out from the root.
EXFOLIATE-regularly 2-3 times a week-- in the shower with exfoliating gloves or with a body brush before hopping in the shower. Exfoliating too much can cause your skin to be extra sensitive. Last exfoliation should be no less 48 hours before your wax appointment, other wise you will be more sensitive.
MOISTURIZE-everyday! Nourishing and taking care of your skin will give you to the best waxing experience possible both during and in between waxes. Moisturizing will aid in the health of your skin and it will also contribute to less pain and less hair breakage. The best way to stay moisturized is internally. Drink lots of water and fruit.
Some extra tips...
-
Stimulants will not help. While having a couple glasses of alcohol or a little toke before getting waxed sounds like the perfect plan, stimulants in the system can cause skin to be extra sensitive to waxing.
-
Give yourself a few after drinking coffee or working out before you get waxed. Drink lots of water to keep your body and skin as hydrated as possible.
DO NOT WAX
You should not wax if you are on Retin A, Renova, Accutane or any other skin- thinning product that is designed to clear the skin from acne taken topically or orally. If you are waxing over a scar, it is important that the scar has healed for atleast 1 year.
AFTER YOU WAX
In the first 24-48 hours you may experience redness and sensitivity. However, this is not the case for everyone and will lessen as you continue waxing.
-First 24 hours-
Avoid sun exposure, working out, and heat. No swimming or intimate activity. Try to wear loose clothing.
-After 48 hours-
Begin regular exfoliation every 2-3 days. Moisturize everyday.
EXFOLIATION is imperative between waxes. It removes dead skin so your hairs can get out above the surface of the pores and will prevent ingrown hairs.
